A moment when I achieved Excellence

The days at primary school were the best days of my life so far. I participated in a variety of activities and experienced a lot of satisfaction and joy.  The most precious moment when my achievements were recognized was Prize giving day at Ruapotaka school.  The day was 16th of December 2010. I looked forward to this day, nervous but extremely happy. Many prizes were to be given out and I just hoped that one of those prizes would be mine.
Sitting in the hall, looking at the big, bold and beautiful trophies made my heart skip a beat! A number of parents were in the hall. Sitting at the back were my parents smiling away. A few minutes later Ruapotaka's prize giving day assembly began.
Off we started with a nice beginning, then it was time for the trophies and  prizes to be presented. As students received prizes I was getting a bit worried. "Would I get a prize? what if I didn't ? how would I feel?"
Finally my name had been called for best all round student from my class. That was good for a start. I felt proud and happy. Then my name was called out again for the best pacific dancer in the Samoan group. I had received a nice and shiny trophy. My mother looked so thrilled, she couldn't contain herself. It was then time for recognizing the year 6 top student. I was actually shocked because I got chosen! I was dumbfounded! I was very, very shocked. I couldn't believe it. I felt like I was about to faint. I could hear my family cheering out loud.

What a memorable day that was! As the assembly finished, I was definitely thrilled. I thanked my teacher, my family and the principal for all the support they gave me. I was so proud of myself. This was of course the best day ever so far. It was a nice end to my last year at Ruaptaka Primary school.  I had achieved excellence and will continue to experience more successful moments in my future too.
